Let Poetry Reign

'Tis the season to hunker down and write - or is it?

Next week brings a hunky dory lineup of spoken word events in our neck of the snow. It may be your excuse to trudge out of the dark and into the light... warming up with new words and conversations with other word lovers.

Check out this run of fun on Thursday, February 12

4pm Lenore Balliro - Remind me to tell you - Poetry at the Dartmouth Cultural Center

5 - 7pm Write with Community - Vestibules - Braitmayer Family Galleries at the Whaling Museum

7pm - Anomaly Poetry - Open Mic - Co-Creative Center in New Bedford

Already have plans next Thursday? Click over to the Write With Community calendar for more ideas. On Friday the 13th, there's storytelling at Gallery X. Plus, more poetry on Valentine’s Day at GroundWork.

Of course, if you prefer to stay in...

May I suggest perusing any issue of Sippizine for local poetry, prose and art? Or… start your words flowing for Sippizine’s next call for work?

Volume 7 - Theme Lucky - Open call from March 8 - 29, 2026

I got to show off Sippizine print copies at the Star Store in December. While everyone enjoyed the free food, my highlights were:

  • chatting with Sippizine contributors
  • watching the surprised and interested faces of people who didn't know about Sippizine
  • hanging with other creatives all night.

Hope you are healthy, warm and safe,

Alanna

Has it ever happened to you, Reader? You're writing and you can't find the word you want.
