Sweet and Sour Season

We are in it, Reader.

It just occurred to me. This time of year in New England, often called mud season, with its temperature loops and variable winds, this weather roller coaster fits Sippizine's next theme.

Sweet and Sour

Sweet and sour season inspires a whole new angle, don't you think?

I'm looking forward to Sippizine V5. It surprised me that this theme idea ranked so high last year. My first thought was Chinese food. But life is full of sweet and sour, so who knows what you will submit or read in the next Sippizine?

Submissions to Volume 5 open March 8 and close on April 6, 2025

March 11 - Writer Session in New Bedford

Join me as I lead a Westport Writer's Group writing session (they aren't just for Westport residents) on March 11, 2025 in New Bedford at 2pm at GroundWork Coworking in New Bedford. It's a chance to spark poetry, an essay or flash fiction for the next Sippizine, or simply add a social moment in your writing routine.

The Library Tour

Always looking to spread the word, I visited South Coast libraries this winter. From Somerset to Wareham, I'm hitting them all. Which is your favorite?

Fun finds during my tour:

  • Fall River's monthly writers group is full of energy
  • Westport Writers Group plans to become a nonprofit (and change their name)
  • Acushnet launched a writer's group at the library
  • Fairhaven's Millicent library shines in these photos from@See_What_Carla_Sees, plus
  • Anomaly Poetry is hosting pop-ups all over New Bedford.

Such goodness going on! Do you have any SouthCoast good writing news? Let me know, so I can help spread the word.

Hang on during this sweet and sour season,

Alanna

P.S. You can still buy print copies of Sippizine in addition to reading it online.
